This is amazing - I started smelling NYC in the early morning as soon as I saw this image. I don't know if that's when you shot this, but I thank you for my little "trip" to New York today.

Very welcome Cathy! Actually, this was taken fairly late at night, around 8:30.

Wonderful shot. Who is Jerry exactly and why does he need saving?

Yeah he's still hanging in there. Bibi, Jerry is the newsman at Astor place who's been there for the last 24 years. City's trying to get rid of him. Here's a good link about what's happening: http://vanishingnewyork.blogspot.com/2011/05/jerrys-on-facebook.html

I always enjoy your photos over at EV Grieve and I need to start checking out your blog more often. This is a great shot, as is all your work!

Thanks Rosie and thanks for the complements Marty! EV Grieve is one of my favorite blogs, my wife has finally stopped asking how I know so much about current events in the neighborhood. Please do check in more often!

Yup Gosia, he's a fixture and character of the neighborhood. Patrick you are so right with the Tin Tin reference!
