Chinatown Windows at Night

http://www.jamesmaherphotography.com/images/0000/3539/chinatown_windows_at_night.jpg

 1/2 second at F7.1, ISO 800 (50mm) - Tripod.

Using a tripod at night in the rain (in winter) is a pain in the ass.  I look so ridiculous fiddling with the tripod and camera in one hand and holding an umbrella in the other and trying to carry it all down the street.  But it's worth it.

This image is much better when viewed large so you can see the details.  View a larger version.

Can you spot the woman?

Just found you through Digital Photographer's Dec street shootout, and will definitely be coming back! (I actually just took some windows photos of LA's Chinatown recently...but nothing like these). Also love the prior Chinatown in the rain shot. Best wishes

Thanks so much Lauren! Glad to hear you found me through DP, it's one of my favorite photo magazines.

Definitely worth lugging it. I have a big, wonderful, heavy one, but I need to get a more portable one...can't win.

Yeah mine is inbetween but more towards the travel size. I invested in a good, light tripod about 5 years ago and it's paid for itself just by keeping my back from giving out. :)

Love this shot, thanks for taking the effort to take it. Sounds like it was quite a haul!

Thanks Marty! Yeah I shouldn't be complaining but just wanted to point out how ridiculous it looks/feels carrying a tripod around Chinatown at night in the right :)
