You look at these and think "My god, was he about to get beat up?" yet I know from experience 99% of the time the people in the shot never even knew you were there.

Yeah they had no idea. This was a tough candid to get with the DSLR. I really didn't want them to notice, not so much worrying about getting caught, but just because I didn't want to ruin the tender moment between two people with such tough looking exteriors.
