Manhattanhenge

http://www.jamesmaherphotography.com/images/0000/3893/manhattanhenge.jpg

Given that it's a supremely cloudy day today, I don't think there will be any good Manhattanhenge photos taken.  Manhattanhenge is when the sunset aligns with the east-west Manhattan grid.  It occurs twice a year during the summer months.

Took me about 4 years to finally get this photo right along with the correct weather, so I'm going to post it for every Manhattanhenge until I get a better one, which I'm not sure I ever will.  Especially with the airplane.

Great timing (year, time of day and plane). Great photo. It even looks like you were standing in the middle of the street to get these, between traffic - just adds to the great timing theme.

Thanks KC. It was right on the park, which is why it looked like I was in the middle of the street.

Amazing shot! I was in NYC around that time but I missed the moment ;-)

Thanks Terence. It's a tough one to really capture well, especially with the weather.

I'm really loving the coloring in this picture, and also how it captures the city life! You are fabulous!!!

I always like it when Easter eggs are present, i.e., the plane passing through

You've got to get up early but the golden hour from dawn give this photo an ethreal feel with perfect lighting. Great photo.

They don't often get even that clarity on the solstices at Stonehenge or indeed at Newgrange in Ireland. So well done on this modern take on an ancient theme. Very moody and thought provoking scene.
