The issues of fashion, advertising, and female self perception fascinates me. It's one of those things you see most when walking the streets of New York. With all of the high-end shop windows, billboards, bus shelters, and taxi and bus advertisements, you can't escape the grasp of the advertiser for more than a couple minutes at a time. Mix that with the highly competitive and stressful nature of the city and it becomes a toxic environment of self-consciousness and neuroticism.
Whether she knows it or not, it's clear this beautiful, fit woman is being influenced by these images. It's almost surreal to compare the size of her legs to the stick-figure legs in the advertisement. Perhaps trying too hard to look that way is why her foot is in the boot. And then you also have the boring greens in her hand and the comparison between the stripes in her outfit and in the advertisement.
