I love it how the chaos of the busy street seems almost caged in by the scaffolding its been framed in. The photo being put in black and white also adds to the theme of 'being caged', it brings the mood of the photo down to a dim level. However, the dim mood is only felt by the viewer, the people in the photo seem pre occupied with their busy schedules, that they are too busy to see that they have been consumed by the modern lifestyle. This photo is brilliant because it demonstrates the 21st century obsession with pop-culture and entering things we do not fully understand, when in reality if we take a step back we see that we are just one of the many unknowingly trapped.
Ariade thank you for the tremendous comment. I think you hit the nail on the head and even described it a little better than I could. It feels almost like a rat maze / cage with this crossing of all different types of people stuck within the same reality. There's individualism here yet at the same time it's all wrapped up in this overarching feeling of trapped conformity.
