Old High Line

http://www.jamesmaherphotography.com/images/0000/4207/high_line.jpg

1/250th at F16, ISO 400 (35mm).

Got a chance to check out the final untouched section of the High Line yesterday, slated for construction in the next three months.  So expect some more of these photos mixed in over the next few weeks.

It's an interesting feeling photographing something that you know will disappear in the coming months.

This is one of those images that's much better viewed large.

James, completely agree. I always look for the mystery lot updates on EV's page as well. This is a great shot with a lot of interest in the fore, mid and background. You managed to capture a lot of elements here. I can't wait to see the next shots. As a Civil Engineering nerd I'm always shooting construction sites and buildings in progress. Sometimes it's east to forget what was there before. Great way to document an ever changing city. When we do look back on prior eras it's often street photography that come to the forefront.

I have been curious about the High Line long before it was ever developed. Thanks for sharing something I have not been able to see in person. This view is really nice and look forward to seeing more!

I'd only heard about this earlier this year when I saw an article about it. What's been developed so far looks fantastic, especially the Chelsea Market Passage balcony area. I look forward to seeing more!

Yes, have to agree I really like this shot. Even halfway around the world i feel like i am amongst the weeds in NY. I like these kinds of shots because they make you ask what "it must have been like in the past", and then also makes you wonder "what the future holds" for this place.

Thanks, yes this a very transitionary photograph. I'm planning to come back and take the exact same angle in six months or whenever this stretch of the high-line is finished.

Karen I love city in progress photos. It changes so fast. I'll tell you, this is the most enthralled that I've ever been photographing flowers.
