New York is a city of women. To be more exact, it is a city of professional and fashionable working women.  In fact, according to the 2010 census, there are over 410,000 more women in the city than men.

Great for men, what a bummer for women!

Seriously, from the stories I've read it can be pretty hard on a lot of people.

Curious to know how you got this shot without them noticing. Being a novice photographer I seem to take to long to set up the shot and then I'm spotted. sometimes takes from the moment

I have the same question as Dana. I've got your ebook and have read your articles on DPS but, I still have a fear of taking shots like this. Did you do this from the "hip?"

Dana sorry for missing this comment. Bret as you can imagine this was a tough one to take, especially with a big and pretty loud canon SLR. It's easier to take a shot Iike this when the train is entering the station. The camera was on my chest and I just fiddled and got the shot ready and focused by using the meter on my chest and I waited until nobody was paying attention. Trains are probably the toughest place to take a candid shot.

I love the expresion on the face of the lady on the platform in the background It givs the capture a lot of depth. IT presents us with a story in a story.
