Crossed, Grand Central

http://www.jamesmaherphotography.com/images/0000/4403/crossed_grand_central.jpg

1/200th at F2, ISO 6400 (28mm).

I don't mean this to be the gimmicky type of image.  Within the comparison, there's a real story here about where the city used to be and where it's going.

James, Just read your post on DPS. I love the corkboard idea. I'm re-doing my office over the next few months and was planning on a wall of canvas prints of various sizes. But that can get expensive and permanent. Now, I'm re-thinking that. About this photo, I love the ironic contrast with the models pic. I do have a technical question: The 6400 ISO puzzles me. Can you tell me a little about why, when, etc ? Thanks, David

David, happy to hear that - you should do it, it's incredible. I was very dark in there and I was trying to capture motion, thus the shutter speed of 200th. If I had to redo, I would have shot on a 1/125th at ISO 3200 probably. But the 5D Mark II has incredible ISO, so I'm very comfortable shooting at 3200 a lot of the time, and 6400 when it's very necessary. That is the very upper limit of what the camera can handle though.
