East River,
New York City, 2003
** Available in color in the New York in Color portfolio.
This photo was taken on the edge of the East River at a cold 5:30 AM with only a handful of dedicated joggers out. In reality, it was much darker out than the exposure suggests.
I love how this photo splits into light and dark triangles, each with the competing textures of the cobblestones, river, buildings and sky, yet all contributing to the calm and balanced nature of the scene.
