Dancer and Skater,
West 4th Street, New York City, 2006
These photographs are part of an ongoing project to capture interesting people found on the streets of New York. The setup is simple, with a seamless white paper taped to a shaded wall.
The focus here is on the personality and dress of the people. I tried hard to build comfort and catch each of these people in a relaxed moment that best exposed their unique personalities.
I also tried not to pose these people at first unless they needed it. Instead, I asked or tried to coax these people into the stance that they were most used to and comfortable with.
The pose of this man came after the simple question, 'do whatever pose you feel most comfortable in.'
