6 Foot 7 Inch Jew,
West 4th Street, New York City, 2006
These photographs are part of an ongoing project to capture interesting people found on the streets of New York. The setup is simple, with a seamless white paper taped to a shaded wall.
The focus here is on the personality and dress of the people. I tried hard to build comfort and catch each of these people in a relaxed moment that best exposed their unique personalities.
I also tried not to pose these people at first unless they needed it. Instead, I asked or tried to coax these people into the stance that they were most used to and comfortable with.
This '6 foot 7 inch Jew' was almost too large for the paper on the wall. He was on his way to Washington Square Park.
This photo shows the highly complicated techniques used to create this portfolio.
