Color Photo of Man with Croissants, Florence, Italy by James Maher Photography

The photographs in this portfolio were taken during a 2005 month-long photography trip to Italy.

The stops included Venice, Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Florence, Siena, Montalcino and Rome.

I chose to start with this photo, taken crossing the Ponte Vecchio Bridge in Florence, because it represents to me a lot of what Italy is about in a very tight composition; quality, texture and simplicity.

This is a photograph about textures, with the wet pockmarked cobblestones, the finely tailored wool suit, and the freshly baked croissants in the clear plastic bag, held by the aged hand.
