Here you can see the homes that are built into the side of the cliffs.

Much of the architectural style in Santorini was created for practical purposes:

  • The flat or slightly curves rooftops protect against the strong winds
  • The white paint helps to cool the interiors during the high summertime temperatures
  • The blue doors help to ward off evil, since the color blue in Greece is believed to do this.
