Meet me in the Salon!

Small Groups Are the Key

Working groups are central to the Salon and you will be added to a group with 19 other motivated photographers from all over.

This is about bringing together a diverse group of people to share and motivate new work with each other.

It doesn’t matter if you live in a city, the suburbs, or in the middle of nowhere. The idea behind ‘Close to Home’ is about studying and sharing the places you know intimately.

It’s about everyday photography. This is where so many of the most personal and unique photographs come from.

You’ll be able to get to know each other’s work and inspire one another to get out the door whenever you can – even short spurts when life feels overwhelming and chaotic can make such a difference.

This is about paying attention to what’s interesting right beneath your nose.

Finding the beauty in our ordinary, everyday lives.

We want you to share your unique point of view about where you live.

The only prerequisite is that you want to get out there and shoot whenever you can. You want to learn, improve, and create some fascinating work!

For those of you ready to join, you can try it out to see if it’s for you.

The price is $10 a month with your first 2 months free to take it for a test drive.

“The Close to Home Photo Salon has become a daily source of joy for me – a place where creative expression is celebrated! James has designed a thoughtful, well-organized forum, which provides resources and photo challenges that I wouldn’t have found elsewhere… The process sharpens my eyes, deepens my understanding of this visually and emotionally satisfying art form, and inspires me to take risks in my own work. Members of this forum are talented and generous with their time.”

– Lisa Levine, Manhattan, NY

“I must repeat: This Salon has meant more to my photography in this short time than all the pages and books and ‘self-teaching sessions’ I have ever gone through. I am not exaggerating!”

– Niels Krarup Jessen, Helsingør, Denmark
